Water Filling Machine Contact Materials: Evidence to Request

Ask for a product-contact materials list tied to the supplied machine. A general “stainless steel” claim does not identify every valve, tube, fitting, gasket and seal that touches the product. Material suitability must be reviewed against the actual water and cleaning conditions.

01

Define which components contact the product

Request a marked drawing or list distinguishing wetted parts from frame, guards and other non-contact components. Give the supplier the product and cleaning conditions available from your process team, with unknowns clearly identified.

  • Tanks, piping, valves and filling paths
  • Gaskets, seals, hoses and fittings
  • Product-contact surfaces in the offered scope
02

Ask for exact material identification

Require grades and material descriptions for the relevant parts rather than one grade assigned to the whole machine. Ask the supplier to explain compatibility and any excluded conditions. Do not prescribe a universal grade or seal compound without a project review.

  • Component-to-material register
  • Product and cleaning compatibility statement
  • Written approval for proposed substitutions
03

Match documents to the delivered configuration

Review supplier declarations and certificates for scope, issuer, date and traceability to the relevant part or batch where required. A document for unrelated raw material or a different machine should remain an open evidence item.

  • Document reference beside each applicable component
  • Required traceability level agreed before purchase
  • Unverified or missing records clearly marked
04

Include materials in handover and spares

Retain the final material register with as-built drawings and part numbers. Replacement seals and product-contact parts should be ordered by approved identity, with changes reviewed for compatibility.

  • As-built material and consumable list
  • Storage and service instructions from the supplier
  • Substitution-control owner

Questions and answers

Is a stainless-steel frame proof of food-contact suitability?

No. Review the actual wetted components and the declarations required for the product, cleaning conditions and destination.

Should every part use the same stainless-steel grade?

The project review should determine suitability component by component. A website cannot select a universal grade for unspecified water and cleaning chemistry.

How do I compare two material proposals?

Use one wetted-parts register, ask both bidders to state grades and seal materials, and compare traceability, compatibility evidence, substitutions and exclusions.
