Water Filling Valve Selection: Questions for Your Supplier

Ask a water filling machine supplier to explain the proposed filling principle before comparing valve counts. The right proposal connects your water condition, bottle and output requirement to a defined fill measurement and trial. Valve quantity or a stainless-steel description alone is not enough to select the machine.

01

State the product and container basis

Identify still water, expected product temperature and any product conditions requiring review. Submit the bottle opening and geometry, target fill and output by format. Carbonated or other beverages require a separate process assessment; do not extend a still-water quotation by assumption.

  • Product and operating condition
  • Approved bottle drawing and neck finish
  • Reference speed and fill acceptance method
02

Ask what actually ends the filling cycle

The bidder should identify whether the proposed machine controls a level, volume, mass or another defined endpoint, and show how that endpoint is adjusted and checked. Different filling technologies exist; a catalog example from another manufacturer is not evidence of the proposed configuration.

  • Name the measurement or mechanical control.
  • List required sensors, calibration checks and settings.
  • State how missing containers and interrupted supply are handled.
03

Compare service and cleaning deliverables

Request a wetted-parts drawing, seal identification, access requirements and the supplier's cleaning and maintenance instructions. Ask which tasks require stopping and isolating the machine, what spare parts are recommended and whether the proposal includes them.

  • Valve assembly and part references
  • Cleaning-path and drain information
  • Consumables and replacement responsibility
04

Use a representative fill trial

Agree the bottles, stable supply condition, measurement method, sampling points and acceptance limits before FAT. Retain results across representative filling positions and formats, including the setup state, rather than accepting only a short video of bottles moving.

  • Record individual results and deviations.
  • Link accepted settings to the tested format.

Questions and answers

Do more filling valves always mean higher usable output?

No single valve count establishes output. The supplier must demonstrate the specified bottle and product under the agreed operating and acceptance conditions.

Can a still-water valve be assumed suitable for sparkling water?

No. Ask for a separate process and container review, including the proposed pressure-related filling method where relevant.

Should I choose by fill level or by volume?

First define the product acceptance requirement, then ask how the offered technology measures it. A visual level check and a net-content measurement answer different questions.
