Before ordering / packaging compatibility

Will Your Bottle and Cap Run on the Proposed Water Filling Machine?

A supplier saying that a water filling machine handles 500 ml bottles has not yet confirmed your bottle. Separate three decisions: does the cap match the bottle neck, can the proposed machine handle both components, and has that combination been demonstrated under agreed conditions? Use the steps below to turn a broad compatibility claim into a reviewable supplier response.

01

Start with an identifiable bottle-and-cap pair

Give each intended combination a format ID. Attach the bottle drawing, neck-finish detail and cap drawing with their revisions; identify the packaging supplier and production sample batch. Nominal capacity and a photograph are useful for discussion but do not define the neck, sealing interface or machine contact surfaces. Mark preliminary drawings as provisional rather than silently treating them as approved.

  • Bottle: material, volume, empty weight, height, maximum body dimensions, base, neck and support-ring details.
  • Cap: closure type, dimensions, thread, sealing design and tamper-evident or tether features where applicable.
  • List each bottle/cap pairing separately, including variants planned after the initial order.
02

Ask what changes on the machine for each format

Request a response against each format ID, not a single yes for a range of volumes. The supplier should identify the handling method, relevant bottle-contact parts, filling interface, cap feeding and capping configuration. A component that can be adjusted is different from an included change part or a modification still to be engineered. Keep those distinctions visible in the quotation.

  • Record confirmed, conditional or not yet evaluated status, with the supporting drawing or test reference.
  • Separate included parts, optional parts, buyer-supplied items and unresolved work; name the responsible party.
  • If two bottles are both 500 ml but have different necks or bodies, ask for two responses. This is an illustrative case, not a compatibility claim.
03

Agree what the production-sample trial must show

Ask which samples are needed, in what quantity and by which date; this page does not prescribe a universal sample count. Agree the machine configuration, packaging revisions, run conditions, observation period and acceptance criteria before testing. Retain actual results for bottle transfer, filling and closure checks, together with stops, rejects and unresolved defects. A selected video clip does not prove every format or the proposed good-output rate.

  • Keep a record linking each result to its format ID, machine setup and source evidence.
  • Record substitutions, missing formats and checks deferred to site acceptance instead of marking them passed.
  • Qualified personnel must conduct tests using approved procedures. Do not use this checklist to set torque or bypass machine safeguards.
04

Reopen the decision when the packaging changes

A lighter bottle, revised neck, new cap supplier or tethered closure may change the approval basis even when nominal volume is unchanged. Send the changed drawing and samples for a documented review; ask which previous evidence still applies and what must be repeated. Before ordering, request a signed format list with included change parts, outstanding conditions and the test plan attached.

  • If final drawings are unavailable, request a preliminary assessment with explicit assumptions and a later approval gate.
  • Use the linked changeover guide for the operating-format plan and the capacity guide for the output basis.
  • Send Mr Kcal the format list, drawing revisions and open questions to discuss a machine-specific proposal. Share only files you are authorized to disclose.

Questions and answers

Does the same neck diameter mean that two caps are interchangeable?

No. A diameter alone does not identify the thread, sealing surfaces, tamper features or cap geometry. Ask the packaging suppliers to confirm the exact neck/closure pairing, then have the machine supplier evaluate feeding, application and the required trial.

Can one water filling machine run several bottle sizes?

That depends on the proposed configuration and each approved format. Request a list of adjustments, change parts and test coverage for every bottle/cap pair. One demonstrated bottle does not establish the entire advertised volume range.

What if a replacement cap fits by hand but leaks after filling?

Do not treat hand fit as machine approval. Keep the affected sample identity and test conditions, then ask the packaging and machine teams to review the pairing and application evidence. Agree corrective action and verification; this page supplies no universal torque setting or diagnosis.
